“Mother, do angels really exist?” Small Piya asked, lying on the old mother Mary’s lap.
“Yes there are dear,” said the old nun Mary, caressing her hair.
“Are they good ? They help us?”
“Yes my child. They fulfil our wish”
“Every wish?”
“Yes dear every wish but If the wish is asked whole-heartedly, then only they fulfil “
” I ask every day, wholeheartedly to bring my mother back, but why don’t they listen to me?”
She got up and sat down. Her eyes lit with questions were looking at Mary with lots of hope that Mary couldn’t resist.
Mary was unable to understand what she should answer? Piya’s innocent eyes used to ask the same question all the time. Piya, who was growing up in the church, used to wait for her mother every day. She was loved by every nun and father. It had not been even a year since she had come here, but she had won the heart of everyone with her naive smile and lovely words.
Only then did the bells ring in the church. “It’s prayer time my child. If you pray to God, HE will definitely fulfil your wish” she said.
“You go, mother, I’ll come in a little while,” Piya said. Mary gave a sweet smile and left. This was a daily job. She knew that Piya gets nervous in the crowd. She will now go to the other side of the church where there is a monument of Mother Mary. By burning a candle in front of the statue, she will be sitting there for hours, praying for bringing her mother back .

PAST STARTS,
It was a small village near Dehradun, where this small, old but beautiful little church existed. There was a lot of peace in the heart of mountains here. People were definitely poor but they were happy except one. Sugandha. She was a beautiful, young woman who had now wilted. There was no happiness left in her nor any enthusiasm to live. The only reason for her survival was his daughter Piya.
Piya was six years old. She was a quiet child. She was a very quiet child, or perhaps the sorrows of life had calmed her. She was intelligent from a young age. Very different from the rest of the children of her age. Piya did not know anything about her father. Sugandha also told her nothing. The rest of the children told her that her father was dead. But she did not believe this. She has seen Sindoor in her mother’s forehead. She knew that the woman whose husband is alive only can put the Sindoor.
But she never forced her mother to tell about her father. Sugandha was often ill. She did not even talk to Piya. She was just lost in herself. She was probably in shock. when Piya’s lonely heart used to panic, she ran to church. There was a small monument behind the church of Mother Mary. She would sit there for hours, talking to Mother Mary. She doesn’t know when it is from day to night.
Then Father Peter laid his hands on her shoulder. “Child, your mother must be waiting for you”
“Oh it’s night Father?” She looked at the sky full of stars. “I had to give medicine to Mother” Then she would run away and go to her home. This was their daily routine, when one day a man came, for whom they had been waiting for many years.
